Mission & Values

Ceiba’s mission is to foster community and economic development in Philadelphia’s Latino community through collaboration and collective action.

Between 2007 and 2010, Ceiba:

  • Prepared 1,327 tax returns at Ceiba housing counseling sites.
  • Brought tax clients $2,003,572 in federal refunds and $164,711 in state refunds.
  • Completed 229 ITIN applications.
  • Reached 718 people through 70 workshops on financial literacy topics.
  • Helped 275 people buy homes with the guidance of Ceiba housing counseling.
  • Produced 28 radio shows on financial literacy topics for Ceiba's Spanish language public affairs program on Rumba 1480 AM, a Clear Channel radio station.
  • Helped 11 families purchase a home with funds from Ceiba's Homeownership IDA program.
  • Enrolled 13 new families in the second round of Ceiba's home ownership IDA program.
  • Enabled 13 students to pay tuition and buy books with funds from Ceiba's Education IDA program.
  • Provided 372 households with foreclosure and property tax delinquency counseling.

The Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations recognized Ceiba in 2009 with one of their Human Rights Awards to a Non Profit Organization.
